How Heavy Is a Washing Machine?

How Heavy Is a Washing Machine

Here is answer to question how heavy is a washing machine: An average washing machine weighs between 65 and 75 kilograms. Approximately 25 kilograms of this weight consists of concrete blocks. Larger washing machines might be heavier than 75 kilograms.

In the new method developed with the work of Amin Al-Habaibeh and undergraduate student Dylan Knight, the weight of the machine is reduced by one third since concrete blocks are not used. Thus, the work of both white goods services and people who want to relocate the machine at home becomes much easier.

“Using concrete is actually harmful to nature as well. The carbon dioxide released into the nature in its production harms the nature. It also makes it difficult to transport concrete machines.” he said.

The plastic bowl developed by the team weighs only 3 kg. When filled with water, it can reach the same weight as concrete blocks. Since the density of concrete is higher than that of water, the water reservoir is designed to be larger in volume than concrete blocks in order to close the difference. The team is currently working on finding a white goods manufacturer to implement this technique.

How To Move A Heavy Washing Machine?

There is a weight on the top of the washing machine to keep the machine stationary due to the angular velocity. One reason the machine is heavy is because of this extra weight. This weight may break if the machine is subject to falls or bumps while being transported, which will prevent the machine from working. Therefore, care should be taken when transporting the machine. So what should be considered when moving the washing machine?

  1. Regularly tape the cable and water fasteners to the back of the machine. Thus, we will not be an obstacle while carrying the machine or we will eliminate the possibility of accident by tripping on our feet.
  2. The most important part of the washing machine is the rotating drum. To prepare the boiler for transport, insert the transportation safety bolts into their slots on the back of the machine and tighten them sufficiently. The boiler will now be fixed. There are warnings in the user manuals that you should never carry it without installing the shipping bolts.
  3. Drain any remaining water. Especially in winter transportation, if the remaining water freezes, it can cause serious damage to the machine. Be sure to empty out any remaining water before transporting. Open the cover at the bottom in front of the machine and drain the remaining water either from the emergency water discharge hose or by turning the pump filter.
  4. Our machine is now ready to be transported, now we can pack it well and carry out the transport. You can use bubble wrap and blankets as packaging material. Before packing, let’s protect the front of the machine with a piece of cardboard to protect it from possible impacts. After placing the cardboard piece in front of it and wrapping it well on all sides, tie it to the washing machine with threads. You can carry it by holding these ropes while carrying. You can tuck cardboard in the corners so that the threads do not damage your washing machine.
  5. To carry it, if you are not a professional, two people can carry it by holding the ropes you tied from the sides.
